I remember the first time I heard the saxophone; I was 5. Ever since that moment I had the dream of playing the saxophone with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.
For so long I listened to my ego/shadow and thought I would never be good enough as it’s one of the hardest instruments to play. That was until
10 years ago. I put the intention out there to find a teacher and soon after that I met the amazing Lovely Laura. She needed a hairdresser
and I needed a teacher so it was the perfect exchange. I couldn’t have done it without her inspiration and support.
Not only do I love the sound of the sax, I love what playing it does for me. I am in the present moment where it all exists. I feel alive and so
passionate. It enables me a way to express that I don’t feel with anything else; it lights me up! When I am improvising especially with my eyes
closed I feel I am a complete channel for the divine to flow through me and this is where I truly understand the saying “getting lost in music”
but at the same time it gives you the feeling of really finding yourself!
As I am growing and evolving I realize more and more I have to share heartfelt music with as many people I can. It really is medicine.
I have been working voluntarily at a hospice in Ibiza with Dementia / Alzheimer’s patients assisting them through music, sound, vibration and movement.
Our intention is healing through sound and frequency to lift their spirits. Most of them are so lost in their minds but the music brings
them back to the present moment. It really has been such an honour and blessing to be part of this. I realised recently that by helping these
dear souls it has also helped me. I particularly remember when Jody first asked me to stand in the middle of the circle of patients and
play my saxophone. I initially went into fear, feeling like I was not good enough to be doing it; I was so nervous.
When I reminded myself I was there to assist these dear souls to get out of their minds and be in the present it motivated me to do the same!
So I tuned back into my heart and connected with each of them by looking them in the eyes. When we connect with them eye to eye it
engages them back into the present moment where they can fully receive the music.
A lot of them respond by nodding , tapping their feet and smiling.
Several months after this I started playing professionally and realized how after this past experience it had then given me the strength,
courage and confidence to be able to stand up and play. Now I have been playing for various events in Ibiza and London, including
weddings, corporate functions and parties. I love playing to chill out Cafe Del Mar style sunset vibe music, as well as disco, funk, soul and
happy house. Sometimes I even pair the sax to mantras and new world music .
My intention is to transmit my love of my sax and music out to all who are present at the events I play.
I feel we have all come here on this earth at this time in history with purpose. We are here to share gifts and light out into the world.
The more we share our gifts the lighter we all collectively become.
Our latest project that is underway is developing a documentary to show the powerful effects of sound, music and vibration on the mind.
Not just for Alzheimer’s / dementia patients but for everyone.
“Sharing music lights me up, it helps me to find balance, feel grounded, connected and energised.”
